Indian Hijras

November 28, 2007 Dipankar Maibam Leave a comment

It’s time that the hijras take upon something else rather than begging in the streets and attending marriage parties. In India one might give them a blank look as for their sexual orientation while applying for job; however, it is the so called hijras who are to be blamed for inculcating that notion amongst the public. It’s high time that they consider themselves equal to others than just applying a slack of lipstick on their lips and look awkward.

Just today while was on my way to office, there were around 3-4 such individuals at a traffic sign and asked me money. I didn’t give a single paisa thinking that they should not be paid else they would not be able to stand up on themselves. With muscular bodies better than me, they should a good worker in some kind of factory. It’s time that they look upon themselves as someone who has a different sexual orientation and nothing else.

Inside a psychiatrist

November 24, 2007 Dipankar Maibam Leave a comment

We often throng to psychiatrist when we are in some mental doldrum. The time we consult them, they act as if, they know everything on how to get rid of the problem. However, most of the time, they are more confused than the patient. They really don’t know what to say and what to do. They suggest remedial action going by the experience on such issue.

If someone says “I am having suicidal tendency” a psychiatrist’s solution would be to ask the patient not to have that feeling. They will try to talk the patient out of the problem. I believe, that can be done by even a close friend to whom the patient listens. So, what I believe is they have read something on a book or piece of paper and try to give solution according the suggestion given by the book or the paper. Moreover, they don’t look into the individual aspect of each patient rather they go by their intuition in giving the answer.

It’s high time they regard individual cases differently and give suggestions according to their knowledge and best ability rather than going by journals or books they read.

Indian biggies were outbid

Today I came through a newspaper article where it was written that some NRI (Non-Resident Indian) had outbid a number of high profile Indian business houses to buy an apartment at around Rs. 34 crores. Considering today’s foreign exchange rate, it translates into something like $ 8.6 million. That’s a lot of money. In the fray were wifes, children and relatives of industrial giants from India.

Flying sales executive

November 19, 2007 Dipankar Maibam Leave a comment

The coming of budget airlines have certainly brought cheers for general public as costs associated with traveling by air has lowered. However, lack of legroom, chaotic conditions, toiled seats and washrooms have started to be associated with budget airlines. I don’t have any idea on whether the flight attendants with budget airlines are given higher salary package or not but they certainly are doing much more than what they were intended for. Today, a flight attendant in such an airline have to sell items along with doing the usual stuff of caring for the passengers. At last, all these flight attendants have become flying sales executives.
