Transformation from Bhaiya to Uncle

Last evening, a guest came to my room along with his two year old son. The moment the boy saw me, he came running towards me and said, “uncle, uncle what’s your name?”

“Uncle no way, I am not that old” I thought. I smiled and said to the boy, “If you don’t call me uncle, I will tell my name”. That precise moment, everyone in the room broke into laughter. However, the boy was adamant and asked me my name again and again till he got my name that too addressing ‘uncle’ all the time.

Later when the guest left, friends and I were analyzing the situation that happened with me. I believe, the time has finally come to start believing that I am no more ‘bhaiya’ any more but an ‘uncle’.

When the boy addressed me ‘uncle’ little did he realize what he should be addressing me with? He went by his intuition and addressed me as ‘uncle’ as he believed that this certainly would be an ‘uncle’ not a ‘bhaiya’.

It is ironical that, when I was in front of the mirror before the father and son duo landed at my room, I felt I was looking my best and youthful.
