It’s high time we curb spitting in public places
It was a travel from Azadpur to District Center in bus route no. 761. The time was around 7.30pm. The front seat on the right hand side of the bus was where I was sitting. Then came a boy of around 11-12 years, who sat beside me on the left side. In front of us, there were 2-3 ladies (may be office goers). When I offered them my seat, they just refused saying that they will commute till Shalimar bagh only. Then there came this guy in his 30’s who just asked the boy sitting next to me to give him a little space so that he may sit. The boy obliged and even I cuddled myself up a bit so that he could sit.
Now, that guy was so obnoxious that he started spitting right from the place where he sat to the direction of the window. I did not notice the moment he was doing it but after he has done it, I just gave him a grinned look. And observed that the ladies too were giving him a grinned look. Then, I came up with a decision to hit him in the face the next time he does it.
Lo! after 5-6 he does it again and but there goes my blowing fist towards his face. However, as the space was tight the blow went to his neck instead of face. At that moment he was infuriated and asked me the reason, I told him, “Thukna hai toh, khidki ke pass jake thuk.” meaning; if you want to spit, go near the window and spit. Now, see the boldness of the guy he just started arguments with me. At that moment, the ladies standing on the front came to my rescue and did the my argument part with him.
Commonwealth Games 2010 will be held in Delhi and now it is high time that the government does something about curbing unethical things in public places or transport systems.
