I Wonder Why?

My travel from where I stay, to my office requires me to board bus daily. Most of the times I have to stand hanging for an hour or so. Usually I try to avoid standing on the left side of the bus coz I feel uncomfortable standing on the ladies side. It’s not that I am always able to do that. However, I find many males clinging on to the hooks on the ladies side only even if there is space on the other side. God knows what they have in their mind. These guys will stand on the ladies side even if there is enough space to let stand twenty individuals on the other side. I wonder what makes them so interested in standing on the ladies side. Many sexual harassments also take place during such encounters. Some ladies are brave enough to put up an eye to such a guy but majority of times such incidents of sexual harassments go unnoticed and unsaid.

Yesterday, something like this happened. A male was standing there on the ladies side of the bus with his zipper open. Now, feel the comfort level of the lady who is taking the burnt of the letting that zipper rubbing her shoulder again and again. For two or three times the lady looked up gave a grinned look but said nothing. Most probably the man took the look as for something else or may be he was just enjoying the very feeling the zipper was giving. Suddenly the women got up to her toes and shouted “Kya aap apni behan ke sath bhi yehi karte hai?” That moment, the guy’s face went red. His expression was worth watching. I feel that if he was unconscious of the state of his zipper he would have shouted back “what happened”. Rather he withdrew from the position and went near the door to de-board from the bus. This is not the sole incident one will find in bus. There are hundreds of such sexual harassments happening everyday. Those who bear the burnt are those who are either too submissive or too afraid to encounter. I can understand the mind an uneducated in such a position but I wonder why that educated individual with a great tie around his neck, does go for such an adventure.

Romance down the drain

With buckets of sorrow and pain in his heart he came to a conclusion ‘I am not going to spend the whole of my life in ruins.’ It’s a long story, a story which would leave you on the tenterhooks whether you should believe it or not. A pain so gruesome that none of my friends believed it. His life came to a standstill after that event. I don’t know whether I would be able to do justice the way I will be narrating the story.

[ Chapter One]

It was a year after his wife died in an accident that Candis met Flora. The first time they met it was in a local pub. Both were seated back to back when Candis could feel that few strands of her hair were on his shoulders. A feeling of uneasiness crept inside him as he hadn’t felt woman after his wife died. He was bit down with few mugs of beer, and bent on the side and looked at her so that he could ask her to relieve of his uneasiness by pulling her hair aside. She at once looked at him sensing someone is creeping. The very look at her, reminded him of the sleepless romantic nights he had spent with Derina, his wife. He could sense that the sensation this woman was giving to him was really awesome and similar to what Derina used to give.

Little did he realize that by the time he had bent side wards, few strands of her hair was on his cheeks. He was down with beer but the smell her hair was generating gave him another jolt. It was having the same scent Derina loved. ‘What a coincidence’ he thought and was just about to ask the women what he was really intending to do that he fell on the floor with a thud. In trying to grab hold of the chair the time he fell, he accidentally pulled the woman’s hair. The woman cried in pain.

Forgetting what he was going to ask, Candis apologized to her and offered her a mug of beer. Later he explained how he fell on the floor to this woman. She just smiled the way he started narrating the story.

15K and My Pride

I could not help myself from smiling all day long the day after we became nuclear under BJP. I walked in pride on the streets as a proud Indian. If I had met a foreigner that day I would have certainly told him/her how proud I am to be an Indian.

Years have gone by after the test however, I feel that single incident made the world think of India as a lethal power in the coming century. Yes, we collected foes because of that incident. But today, except for the usual one, we have generated more friends than foes. I believe, that very incident changed the way we thought, we believed and we walked towards a resilient India.

Yesterday was the first time Sensex experienced closing of trade at above 15K. Opinions vary on whether it is on the end of bull run Sensex is experiencing. While many of the up-mobile investors believe that the Sensex will breach 16K mark soon, many think the opposite. Those who fear the fall are certainly sure to an extent. They have their own reasoning behind that. However, those who feels that the bull run will continue for few more days too have their own reasoning.

Whatever be the believe and reasoning of these think-tanks, I believe with the coming days Sensex is going to zoom past yet another record mark.

Everybody talks about telecommunication revolution in India. Every few weeks we see an unprecedented rise in the number of mobile phone users. I would like to see the data on the number of investors we have in the Sensex. I believe it might also have made a quantum jump from a few years back. If market capitalization is the standard to define the market, I believe we will be capitalize more in next 5-10 years. The reasoning, we have a huge number of young investors. They will be starting to invest more in the system the day they are assured of certain necessities in life viz. mobile, car, bikes, TV, refrigerator, PC etc. Don’t think that they don’t wish to invest. I believe young India wishes to invest but it is a testing phase; these young guns will test the water before jumping in the pool.

Breaching 15K mark by Sensex is no mean task but I believe we will breach 25K mark sometime in next 3-5 years. Until then, INDIA keep on flying to make me proud.

The New Seven Wonders List

I voted thrice using different mail ID’s for Taj Mahal last month. Millions like me too did the same. Little did I had any thought on which monuments could be considered Seven Wonders. May be we were patriotic, too patriotic that we didn’t go for anything else.

This new Seven Wonders List shows a trend; majority rules. A particular monument in a certain country with huge population went on becoming something in that list. I wish I had applied my thinking on the end result and should have voted for something else. I miss Great Pyramid in the new list.

Indian telecom industry is hiding something

With Indian telecom industry claiming that it is growing by leaps and bounds, I wonder what is the real story behind. No matter part of what they claim may be true but does they factor-in the actual number of users who usually stay committed to a single mobile phone network. Haven’t you come across a number of friends or colleagues who usually change their number quite often?

So, what is the real picture? I believe what the telecom industry of India is claiming is far from truth. The actual figures of mobile connectivity may be lower than what it is claiming. It may be quite low as 25% of what their projection is.
